BMX pedals have different threads for the left and right sides of the bike. The right pedal has a standard thread that tightens clockwise. The left pedal has a reverse thread witch tightens anti-clockwise. To tell them apart, the left pedal usually has lines on the axle. Sometimes pedals will also have a small R and L printed on them.�
