How To Check Your Chain AlignmentUpdated 2 months ago

You will need two measurements to be able to check your chain alignment. 1. The distance from the centre of the seat post (centreline of the bike) to the centre of the teeth on the front sprocket. This will give you your front chain line. 2. The distance from the outer face of the driver side axle hardware (where it sits against the inner face of the rear dropout) to the centre line of the teeth on the front sprocket. This will give you your rear chain line. With these measurements, you can work out the preferred chain line. For instance. If your rear hub is 110mm wide and your rear chain line is 10mm, your front sprocket should be spaced at 45mm from the centre line of the bike for an optimal chain-line.
